Butterflies and blossoms fine line piece — Desire Ink Rotherham

Your first tattoo appointment is not the day to wing it. A few small choices in the 48 hours before your session make the difference between a settled sit and a rough one.

48 hours before

The night before

Sleep. A tired body reads the tattoo as a bigger stressor than a rested one — you'll feel every minute of the session. Aim for a full night and a real breakfast in the morning.

What to wear

Wear something loose and dark that gives easy access to the placement. Ink stains — don't wear anything you love. For back, spine or ribs pieces, bring a button-up shirt or a loose zip hoodie you can wear inside-out on the way home.

What to bring

"You will not remember whether you scrolled your phone during the session. You will remember whether you slept the night before."

The mindset

Fine line work is on the gentler end of the pain spectrum but nothing about a tattoo is truly painless. The trick is not bracing against it. Breathe normally, unclench your jaw, and trust that Emma will set an honest pace.
